Creativity is the name of the game, and at Pink every employee’s ideas go into creating a great product month after month. There are a few prerequisites that are required to work at Pink:
- You must work well with others.
- You must like to laugh and have fun.
- You must cry at Hallmark commercials.
- You must be groovy in your own way.
- You must care about people.
- You must be open and willing to let your talents soar.
- You must want to do your best.
- And finally, you must believe that anything is possible if you set your mind to it.
The core staff at Pink is supported by wonderful freelance writers, a sincere bookkeeper, a cracker-jack accountant, a really genuine, smart, yet tough lawyer and a down-to-earth, handsome staff photographer, all of whom are heartfelt and excellent at what they do.
Elizabeth Skenes Millen
A native of Columbia, SC, Elizabeth moved to Hilton Head Island for the second time in 2002 and started Millen Publishing Group, LLC in May 2003.
Prior to the move, Elizabeth held several key positions in marketing, including Director of Marketing at The Carolinian, where she was presented with the Presidential Award of Success in the first six months of employment as well as Marketing Manager at The Morning News in Florence, SC and Marketing/Hospitality Director at Darlington Raceway, which, at the time, hosted four NASCAR sanctioned events annually. “I have had a wonderful career path and made the best of it. Looking back, every job was a stepping stone leading me straight to the inception of Pink. I love publishing Pink Magazine and the creativity it affords me. Plus, the fact that we have an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of women means a great deal to me,” said Elizabeth. Throughout the years, Elizabeth has served as a Director on many boards, including the American Heart Society and the Black Creek Arts Council and has been a very active member of each community in which she has lived. In addition, she has volunteered as a mentor and as a Junior Achievement teacher in the schools. She was an active member of the Junior League of Florence where she was editor of their magazine, Catalyst.
Holding a Bachelor of Science degree from the distinguished Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina, Elizabeth has found the perfect way to marry her business mind with her artistic side in the creation of Pink Magazine. Elizabeth is married to Dana R. Millen, her husband of 15 years. They live kinda happily with their 14 year old son, Conner, their 9 year old daughter, Jacie and two dogs, Mimi, a schnoodle and Pancake, a bagel (Bassett/beagle mix) that they picked up from the median of I-26. As a family they enjoy bicycling, walking, board games and cuttin’-up and laughing…a lot!
