Bill Davis of Columbia, SC has positively created a group of Divas that unequivocally know how to “Celebrate their Womantality”! Working with paint on canvas as well as ceramics, Davis features his mischievous females celebrating life, love, and song anywhere from Bay Street in Historic Beaufort to a wonderful cocktail lounge, a tropical island, or even a wild adventure in an SUV. Whether set against the charming Lowcountry architecture or surrounded by exotic animals such as hippos and flamingos, the scenes of the Divas in action feature the ever cheerful, ever playful ladies in long, flowing ball gowns and formal opera gloves. The figures revel in their Diva status and rejoice with open mouths and faces tilted towards the sky.

Davis began his painting career as a hobby due to numerous requests from his friends; he had his first show in 1989, which has become a very successful annual event presented by the I. Pinckney Simons Gallery in Beaufort, S.C. His Diva series is definitely his lighter side of life. His professional career is with the Department of Mental Health. The Divas are his joy, his humor, and his wit.

These colorful works by Davis have been featured in numerous publications, including recognition by the South Carolina Arts Commission in Artifacts, as well as two previous covers with Pink Magazine.

Davis’ whimsical, feel-good paintings will add humor to your day, have a way of reminding you of a special friend, and will surely produce a giggle or two. The Divas are a must-have as they continue to find their way into collectors’ hearts throughout the world.
