Do you like to shop? Taste wine? Support great causes? If you answered yes to any of these three questions, you’re in luck. The Hilton Head Wine and Food Festival is March 9-15, and promises to be a week chock-full of daily and nightly events for all lovers of wine and food. It’s a delicious seven days, celebrating the world’s top wineries on gorgeous Hilton Head Island!
Among the many opportunities to immerse yourself into all things wine is the 6th Annual Sip and Stroll. This is where the shopping comes in! As the name promises, guests can grab a glass and sip and stroll their way through the variety of shops that line the famous Harbour Town Yacht Basin. With more than 40 wines to choose from and winery representatives on site, guests will be privy to a handpicked selection of wines and bites, along with discounts and specials at participating retailers.
“People love this event because it’s casual, fun and at their own pace,” said Jeff Gerber, Executive Director of Hilton Head Food and Wine and the festival. Friends, fun, and of course wine make this one of the most popular events of the week. “Settling into one of the famous red rocking chairs, sipping on a great wine and people watching is not a bad day,” he added.
Jeff is right. We all move here because that iconic red and white light house bathes our hearts in Lowcountry magic and beacons us to call the Lowcountry home. Sipping, strolling, shopping, sitting in Harbour Town on a beautiful afternoon is exactly what we all long for.
This year, among the wine selections, sip and strollers will get special tastings from the Deep Eddy Vodka brand and local spirits from Hilton Head Distillery. All in all this is a spectacular, relaxing afternoon. Plainly put, it’s just fun!
But, it is also a way to give back. The festival is an event produced by the non-profit organization Hilton Head Wine & Food, Inc., and proceeds help support the John & Valerie Curry Educational Scholarship Fund for college students pursuing degrees in the hospitality and tourism field.
Sip and Stroll is Thursday, March 12 from 1:00-4:00 pm and is a sell out every year with only 250 tickets being sold. To purchase your Sip and Stroll tickets ($49), and see the full event schedule, log onto www.hiltonheadwineandfood.com.
