What inspired you to pursue such a challenging career, and what do you love about it?
I was inspired to pursue fire and EMS because I wanted a career with purpose—one where I could serve others and be there for people on their worst days. What I love most is the privilege of earning someone’s trust in a moment of crisis and working alongside an incredible team that feels like family. My job challenges me physically, mentally, and emotionally, but it has also taught me resilience, compassion, and the importance of showing up for others when they need it most.

What is the No. 1 thing you would teach women about safety?
If a situation, person, or place makes you uncomfortable, pay attention to that feeling. Too often, women worry about being polite or avoiding awkwardness, but your safety is more important than someone else’s opinion. It’s okay to leave, say no, ask for help, or create distance from a situation that doesn’t feel right.

What or who has given you the courage to fearlessly pursue your passion?
The greatest source of my courage has always been my mother. As a single mom, she worked tirelessly to provide for me while constantly reminding me I was capable of achieving anything I set my mind to. She never let me believe that my circumstances would define my future. Her strength, faith, and encouragement taught me to face challenges head-on and trust in my abilities. When I decided to pursue a career in fire and EMS, I carried those lessons with me.

If you could tell the world anything, what would it be?
Your worth is not determined by your accomplishments, your mistakes, or what others think of you. Your value comes from God and who He created you to be.

Where do you see yourself in five years?
I see myself in medical school, continuing my journey toward becoming a physician. As a firefighter and paramedic, I’ve had the privilege of caring for people during some of the most critical moments of their lives, and those experiences have inspired me to expand my knowledge and impact through medicine. My goal is to combine the compassion, resilience, and real-world experience I’ve gained in EMS with advanced medical training so I can continue serving others at an even greater level. While I know the path ahead will be challenging, I am excited to embrace the opportunities for growth and learning that come with pursuing my dream.

What are the words you live by?
One quote that has guided my life is, “If God put the calling on your heart, He already factored in all the barriers you might face.” This quote reminds me that my dreams and purpose are not limited by the challenges in front of me. Whether I am balancing school, work, or personal struggles, I trust that God knew those obstacles would exist before He placed this calling on my heart. Because of that, I try to approach every challenge with faith rather than fear, knowing that obstacles are not a sign to quit, they are opportunities to grow into the person I am meant to become.

What do you do for fun?
As a full-time student and employee, my schedule can be demanding, I’ve learned to be intentional with the free time I have. I prioritize spending time with people I love, whether that’s gathering with family and friends, traveling to new places, or simply creating meaningful memories together. These moments are where I have the most fun, and these experiences help keep me grounded and remind me of what matters most. While I am passionate about my career and education, the relationships I build and the moments I share with others are what bring me the greatest fulfillment.

What encouragement do you have for women/girls who are interested in pursuing a career in your field?
If being a part of fire rescue and EMS is something you are passionate about, don’t let anyone make you feel like you don’t belong. This career is demanding, but it is also incredibly rewarding. Be confident in your abilities, stay committed to learning, and don’t be afraid to take up space in a profession where women are still underrepresented. Go get ‘em, girl!
