St. Andrew By-the-Sea United Methodist Church (UMC) is excited to announce they have been serving the Lord and the Hilton Head Island community for 50 years! You have probably been a part of one of many of their local missions. One of the longest running events hosted by St. Andrew By-the-Sea UMC is Fall Festival. 2018 is also a big year for Fall Festival, too, as it its 40th year. It will be held on Saturday, November 10th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the church’s Hilton Head campus at 20 Pope Avenue.

The St. Andrew By-the-Sea UMC’s Fall Festival is one of the largest, continuously run, church bazaars in South Carolina. Of course the 40th Annual Fall Festival is a must and promises to be bigger than ever. They will be celebrating with great food, live music, and coffee and donuts for early birds. Attention book lovers: The festival was gifted with an extensive estate book collection of more than 2,000 books, many first editions. These books will be on sale as part of the bazaar!

In addition, there will be a market filled with sale items offered at great prices! Basically, the festival is like the ultimate thrift store pop-up, freshly stocked and overflowing with a vast array of gently-used items for bargain hunting and treasured finds. Plus, as you would expect at an old-fashioned church bazaar, tables will be filled with homemade baked goods for sale, along with a garden shop with live plants. Other departments include household/electronics/small furniture, children’s items and toys, sporting goods with bikes and golf clubs and jewelry. Don’t forget to explore the Christmas shop, perfect for the season and in just in time for decking the halls.

A silent auction will offer items for bid such as gift cards, artwork, golf packages, restaurant dinners, professional services, admissions to local events, vacation resort packages and much more!
All proceeds from the Fall Festival will help to support and fund mission projects of the church. These include multiple ministries: Its soup kitchen, prayer quilt ministry, and the community thanksgiving meal, which feeds more than 1,500 diners on Thanksgiving Day.

Each one of these ministries offers incredible value to the community and beyond. Many people rely on the soup kitchen each week for a hot meal. The prayer quilt ministry is a special tradition at St. Andrew By-the-Sea and can be requested for any one in need. Each prayer quilt is for a loved one going through an illness or having a hard time in life. The quilts are on display in the chapel and members go in and pray for the recipients and tie a knot as a physical representation of their care and concern. The quilts bring a sense of comfort and joy. Lastly, the Hilton Head Island Community Thanksgiving Day meal is one of most successful ministries of St. Andrew By-the-Sea United Methodist Church. It is held at Hudson’s Seafood on every Thanksgiving Day. The meal provides far more than a Thanksgiving, it creates a community dinner offering those who are alone to join with families and friends who have made this event part of their annual Thanksgiving celebration. St. Andrew By-the-Sea offers many more ministries and opportunities to get in involved in the community to be a part of making a difference.

The Fall Festival is such a treat for the whole family and a great way to get to know people in the community a little better. This isn’t just fundraising or supporting a church, it’s building and sustaining a community that has come together for 50 years!
